This means the quality or condition of being humble; modest opinion or estimate of one’s own importance, rank, etc
According to James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Let us quickly look into the meaning of resist and grace:
To resist means: To take action in opposition to; try to eliminate, reduce, or stop
Grace means: to bring honour or credit to (someone or something). It means unmerited favour.
So imagine been opposed by the creator Himself because of pride? And also imagine been favoured by Almighty God because of your humility? Which will you choose?
I believe this current Pandemic has somehow taught people how to be humble. I will give an example:
Calling people you wouldn’t normally call, showing love to people you wouldn’t normally notice. I see people humbling themselves to share their stories and experiences more easily as a result of this current pandemic. This is great because experience they say is the best teacher as others can get to learn from people’s experiences.
Let’s bring this back to the bible:
*Jesus is the true meaning of humility. He humbled himself and became obedient unto death, he didn’t care about his status but he faced the shame, the disgrace, the embarrassment, humiliation and so on…. he faced the cross like a criminal and at the end of it he was glorified, at the end his name is now exalted above every other name (see philippians 2:5-11).
Beloved there is a price for humility and you wouldn’t want to miss it
Humility is a simple lifestyle, it is not foolishness as some might mistake it for that….It is knowing who you are, your worth and dignity yet you choose simplicity and you are approachable by all…
HUMILITY DOES NOT SHOW OFF*
Let’s explore the story of Jesus again. After he fasted for 40 days and night, he was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil… this same devil that got Adam and eve into the initial mess with the forbidden fruit. This time the devil asked Jesus to command stones to become bread if He was truely the son of God, but guess what Jesus didn’t spend His precious time trying to convince or prove to the devil He was the son of God, He is fully aware of who He is, so there is no need to show off….Jesus simply replied “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (see mathew 4:1-11 for more). So beloved be wise, be courageous and be humble…CHOOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY AND LET THEM EXPRESS HUMILITY….
*AND Dont forget to always Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time (1 Peter 5:6)
